Sample of 3D Visualisation

Red Geographics has been working with the City of Apeldoorn and Cebra to produce a 3D interactive environment of the city. This is open to the public at www.virtueelapeldoorn.nl. Red Geographics was involved in the data processing required for this project, as well as modelling several of the important buildings that can be seen.

Prior to Virtueel Apeldoorn, some tests were done in VNS to gain experience in 3D:

This sample was made using Visual Nature Studio and FME. An aerial photo was draped over a DEM. Then FME was used to combine the DEM with the building contours and assign a Z-value (elevation) to every building. Finally, in VNS the building contours were transformed into walls.
